Kian Caplan
Graduate Student
Kian was raised in Austin, Texas. He earned his BA in Neuroscience, Science in Society, and Chemistry at Wesleyan University in 2021, where he researched the neural circuits of motivated behavior/reward-processing and the therapeutic mechanisms of hippocampal interneuron-progenitor transplantation for temporal lobe epilepsy. Kian then started his PhD at MIT in 2021, where he is co-advised by Fan Wang and Guoping Feng to study the neuropathology of Tourette syndrome. In his free time, Kian watches TV with his beloved pet boa constrictor (Frank), plays table tennis, throws knives, and is an avid advocate for Tourette syndrome awareness, LGBTQ+ rights, and bringing underrepresented groups into STEM fields.
